Beatriz “Bizi” M. Hernandez
Founding principal + RA/LEED AP
Meet Bizi, our lead architect with a reputation for pushing creative boundaries and leading her team with relentless drive. Despite rumors of making her team cry and presenting ideas she had that morning in the shower, the truth is far more inspiring.
Bizi kicked off her journey in 1993, collaborating with top firms in South Florida, including Sieger-Suarez, Kobi Karp, & ADD Inc (now Stantec), before becoming the first female partner at MSA Architects Inc. in 2016. Fast forward to 2023, she launched her brainchild, BIZI ARQ, a female-owned firm founded with a powerhouse team of talented women.
A no-nonsense advocate for design, Bizi believes in balancing client needs with city visions, embracing an "EVERYDAY IS A DEADLINE" ethos. Her crew mirrors her passion, executing projects with precision and enthusiasm.
Outside the office, you'll find Bizi tackling competitive shotgun shoots, bird hunting, or simply unwinding with her beloved pooches (Leo, Ryder and Blu) and a glass of Chardonnay. And yes, her favorite 12 gauge is the Perazzi MX8.

Augusto "TTuTTo" Paez
SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER
Augusto is a Colombian Architect with 25 years of experience in the construction industry. He greatly values the opportunity to have worked in both structural and MEP offices, as this knowledge has enriched his work in various architecture studios. Throughout his career, he has learned that great design begins with a solid understanding of construction fundamentals. He believes that a beautiful design is only complete when it can be constructed as efficiently as possible.
First and foremost, he loves his family—Ana Maria, Sofia, and Nicolas. After architecture, his third passion is photography, which has trained his eye to recognize the importance of light, proportion, and color harmony in the spaces he designs. As a Senior Project Manager and designer, Augusto is involved in all stages of a project, from initial napkin sketches to construction administration, ensuring that ideas sketched on a napkin develop into striking, photogenic buildings.

Carlos "Camu" Malmierca
PROJECT DESIGNER
Meet Carlos, born and raised in Havana, Cuba, who later moved to the United States and is now an FIU architecture graduate. His interest in architecture centers on how buildings are assembled and how ideas move from concept to reality through the design process. Outside the office, Carlos enjoys learning through exploration and hands-on experimentation. He is drawn to things with history, character, and intention; an appreciation that often shows up in his taste in music or in the time he spends around motorcycles and classic cars, where he enjoys tinkering, fixing, or simply trying to understand how they work. Travel, photography, and movement serve as ongoing sources of inspiration, encouraging him to observe places, systems, and details with a thoughtful and inquisitive eye.

Jezabel “Jezi” Cruz Flores
PROJECT DESIGNER
She was named Jezabel after the famous Bette Davis movie, but rest assured she is not like the character. Jezabel, who goes by Jezy, is a guava pastelito-loving Cuban even though she does not drink coffee and speaks low (most of the time). She would rather watch sunsets than Netflix and enjoys being a multi-task girl: mom, wife, daughter, and hard worker. She is very responsible, creative, and always striving to learn something new. Jezy is always grateful to God.
-
Johana “Hana” Mendoza
PROJECT DESIGNER
If you look for the meaning of Hana, it embodies everything she is. Hana means "flower" in Japanese, in Korean, it means "number one," and in Hawaiian, it means "craft" or "work." When she is not being a workaholic, you can find her being adventurous with her fur baby "Luna" or at the airport waiting for her next flight to another fun destination or her home country Peru. Her passion for traveling has exposed her to many different cultures and architectural styles which allows her to showcase all this knowledge and vision to BIZI ARQ.
-
Luna "Lunita" Mendoza
HEAD OF PAWSITIVE VIBES
Luna is the office's top canine consultant, specializing in motivation, lunchtime snacks distribution, and keeping spirits high with surprise zoomies. Known for her impeccable nap skills, she ensures the couch is always properly "tested" for comfort. As the Head of Pawsitive Vibes, Luna is also in charge of cuddles, creating distractions during conference calls, and offering unsolicited licks of encouragement. She’s a true asset to the team, always ready to chase down any problems (and squirrels).

As a Project Designer and Social Media Manager, she combines technical design skills with visual storytelling, helping transform ideas into spaces and sharing those stories with the community. She enjoys the challenge of balancing creativity and functionality in every project. When she’s not designing, you’ll likely find her trying a new restaurant, enjoying a day at the beach, or spending time with friends and family. Always eager for new experiences, Kata draws inspiration from the people, culture, and energy that make Miami unique.
